Research Areas:

  • Saliva-based diagnostics

My research is focused on the development of a chemiluminescent enzymatic detection assay of 1,5-anhydroglucitol in saliva for diabetes mellitus screening. I have also developed a pre-assay clearing step to remove various interfering substances found in saliva. The assay is currently undergoing verification in a 500+ participant study.

  • Point of care/use assays

I am developing nanophosphor-based lateral flow assays for the detection of human IgG in environmental water samples as an indicator of human fecal contamination and for the early diagnosis of dengue virus by dengue nonstructural protein 1 (NS1).
